Home Warranty: Protect Your Home from Unexpected Repairs
Home warranty insurance is an additional line of financial protection you can purchase on your home to cover repairs and maintenance not covered in your homeowner's policy. Your homeowner's policy will cover losses due to damages from weather, theft and other "qualifying events." However, the policy will not cover expenses due to breakdowns of electrical or mechanical equipment in the home. Since these expenses can be large, it may be wise to purchase home warranty insurance, particularly on an old home. This coverage would kick in if your water heater breaks, your refrigerator needs to be replaced or other structural problems reveal themselves over the years.
