Fuel Efficiency: Understanding Gasoline Grades & Saving Money
Saving money on gas can be as simple as choosing the right type of fuel when you fill up your tank. With that in mind, here are some tips to consider before you head to that nearest gas station.
Switch to economy fuel. Yes, some stations may advertise that their fuel has better or cleaner gas, which may save you mileage because of the additives that they put into their gasoline. However, there really is no proof of this, and all gasoline is basically pumped from the same place. If you want to add additives to your gasoline, you can save money by purchasing these cleaners yourself at your local automotive store and spending an average of 10 to 30 cents less per gallon by using an economy gasoline.
Do not drive around to find the best prices of gas. You won't be saving money on gas. In fact, you will be wasting gas in the process. Call your local gas stations and ask them what their current prices are. This can save you time and money.
Skip the rebate cards some gas companies will give you to purchase their gas. Most times, their gas will be the most expensive, even with the rebate.
