Top Credit Cards for Grocery Shopping - 2024
It may be surprising, but there are plenty of urbanites who eat nearly all of their meals at restaurants. But for the rest of us, groceries are a major part of our budget.
For those of us who shop with a rewards credit card, we should always have a card that offers exceptional rewards at grocery stores.
The right rewards card will offer bonus points, miles, or cash back every time you visit your grocery store or supermarket. Who wouldn’t want money just for going grocery shopping?

Best for overall grocery rewards
Citi Rewards+® Card
The Citi Rewards+® Card offers a generous 2X ThankYou® Points at supermarkets and gas stations (for the first $6,000 per year) and 1x point per $1 spent thereafter.
Rather uniquely, it also automatically rounds up small purchases to 10 points, so even an $0.89 banana purchase will net you 10 ThankYou® Points.
Cash back
In addition to the rewards mentioned above, for a limited time, you’ll earn 5 ThankYou® Points back per $1 spent at restaurants for the first $6,000 spent annually, and unlimited 1x ThankYou® Points on all other purchases.
Intro offer
When new cardholders spend $1,500 within your first three months of having your Citi Rewards+® Card and you’ll score 20,000 bonus ThankYou® Points redeemable for $200 in gift cards at thankyou.com.
Intro APR
Open a Citi Rewards+® Card and you’ll get a 0% intro APR on both purchases and balance transfers for 15 months – that’s objectively awesome for someone trying to pay off old credit card debt without accumulating interest on new purchases. Balance transfers must be completed within four months of account opening and come with a 3% or $5 balance transfer fee (whichever is greater). After that, the fee will be 5% per transfer (minimum $5). The standard purchase and balance transfer APR is 15.74% - 25.74% (Variable).
