New Jersey Unemployment Statement: How to Access Your Records
Verification of income is one of the reasons that a person receiving unemployment in New Jersey can have for wanting to see a statement. If you are applying for financial assistance, a loan or declaring bankruptcy, you typically must show proof of income. Employed persons can show pay sheets or a printout from their employers. If unemployment is your only income and the state deposits the money into your account, you may not have your statements available when you need them. New Jersey makes statements available on the Internet to anyone with an account.
Step 1
Log on to your account at the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJLWD) Unemployment Insurance Benefits website (see Resources) by clicking on "File a Continued Claim." If you filed your original claim using the website, you created an account when you filed and should use the same username and password you entered then. If you did not, create an account by entering your name, address, Social Security number and choosing a password.
Step 2
Click the option to view your account from the menu. This will open a page where you can view your account information, payments and your remaining account balance.
Step 3
Click on the date for the statement you need.
Step 4
Print the statement by clicking on the print option on the page.
Tip
You can change your address from the website, but only if your address remains in the state.
Warning
You can add or change your direct deposit information, but you cannot stop direct deposit from the website. You will have to call or visit the department.
You cannot access the unemployment insurance database during the office's off hours. You must access it between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday and between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
