Check Your Pennsylvania SNAP/Food Stamp Balance: A Simple Guide
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federal program that allows low-income families to have a nutritious diet despite their income restrictions. In Pennsylvania, low-income families who are eligible for SNAP (the new name for food stamps) use an ACCESS debit card that allows them to purchase food in grocery stores and supermarkets. The balance on a SNAP card can be checked by dialing a 1-800 phone number found on the back of the card.
Step 1
Locate your ACCESS card.
Step 2
Turn your card over so that the green side is facing down.
Step 3
Look in the lower left-hand corner of your card for the "EBT Recipient Hotline."
Step 4
Dial 1-888-328-7366. Wait for the prompt and then press "1" for English or "2" for Spanish.
Step 5
Enter your 19-digit card number, which is located on the front (green side) of your card. Your SNAP balance will be given to you after entering your card number.
