Sears Credit Card: Apply Online & In-Store - Kmart

Kmart doesn't have a credit card in its own name, but it does accept the Sears card. Sears, the parent company of Kmart, partners with Citi Bank for cards good at all that store as well as Kmart and Lands End. You can apply for the Sears store card online and in any Sears or Kmart store. You can apply for the Sears MasterCard at any Sears or Kmart store.

Apply Online

From the Kmart website, kmart click on the Sears Credit Card link at the bottom of the page. Choose the "Apply Today" option, which takes you to the Citi Sears card page and the online application for the Sears store card.

Visit the Store

If you want to apply in store, use the store locator on the Kmart website to find the closest one. You can also apply in-store at any Sears store. A cashier can take your application information and enter it into the store's computer system.

Provide Necessary Information

Along with being 18 years old, you must be a United States citizen to apply. The application asks for basic contact information. You'll also have to provide your annual income and monthly rent or mortgage, as well as indicate whether you own, rent or have other living arrangements. If you are 21 years or older, you can include your household income on the application for Citi to consider when making a decision. Additionally, you'll need to give your Social Security number, date of birth, driver license or photo ID number and state of issue.

Instant Approval

Depending on your credit history, you may receive instant approval. Otherwise, Citi notifies you within 30 days if it has approved or denied your credit application. Citi determines the approval and credit limit based on a combination of factors including your income level and debt listed on your credit report.

Card Benefits

You can only use the Sears store card at the three stores, while the Sears MasterCard is good at any retailer that accepts MasterCard. When you join Kmart's Shop Your Way program and link your Sears card, you earn 5 percent back in points on all qualifying Kmart purchases. To join Shop Your Way, register with your email and create a password. You can also register through Facebook and Twitter. Both cards have no annual fee and give you advanced notice of Sears and Kmart sales events and monthly savings coupons.
