Oil Spill Trip Cancellation: Does Travel Insurance Cover It?
Travel insurance will not likely cover trip cancellation due to an oil spill. This depends on your policy, but most policies cover only natural disasters, not manmade disasters. Cancellations due to hurricanes, tornadoes and bad storms are all covered. However, if there is a problem such as an oil spill that causes you to cancel your trip, you will be stuck with the bill. You may consider other types of manmade disasters, such as terrorist attacks, when you are purchasing your policy. Typically, insurance policies can include a terrorism line of coverage if you choose to have this included.
