VA Disability Compensation Payment Timeline: What to Expect
Eligible recipients of disability checks from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs should get the first payment within 15 days of its approval by the department. Recipients can chose direct deposit payments, which should get them the money a few days sooner than those who take the check option.
Payment Schedule
After the first payment, the subsequent ones will arrive on the first weekday of the month. Each payment represents the disability compensation approved for the recipient for the previous month. To maintain the regular payments, recipients must provide evidence of disability as requested. Failure to do so does risk interruption of the payments.
