Wells Fargo wire transfers are a convenient way for customers to send or receive money quickly and through a secure medium to fund new accounts, pay off debts or lend someone money.

Receive Transfers

To receive a wire transfer from another person or business, give them the Wells Fargo wire routing transit number, which varies depending on the type of account the money is going into. You can find all Wells Fargo's routing numbers on its website. Tell the sender to use Wells Fargo Bank and San Francisco as the receiving bank name and location. Additionally, give the sender your account number and the title of your account, found on your account statement. As of 2015, Wells Fargo charges $15 for incoming domestic wires and $16 for international wires.

Send Wires

You must send your first wire transfer by visiting a local Wells Fargo location. That's because Wells Fargo requires you to sign a wire agreement and a Wells Fargo representative must witness the signature. After your first wire transfer, you receive a personal identification number. To send subsequent wires, call Wells Fargo at 1-800-869-3557 and give them your PIN number. You'll also need to provide the recipient's bank name, routing number and location, as well as the name of the recipient and his account number. Outgoing domestic transfers cost $30, while the fee for outgoing international wires varies depending on the country, currency and amount.
